For Jaime Urías, coffee is more than a crop - it is a family legacy. One of his farms, Finca Nicolás, was named in honour of his father, Nicolás, who passed away when Jaime was just 18 years old. Today, every harvest serves as a tribute to his father's memory and the values of hard work, resilience, and dedication that continue to guide the family.

Jaime manages almost three hectares of coffee-producing land nestled between 1,250 and 1,280 metres above sea level in the mountains of Honduras. Across his farms, he cultivates Obata, Lempira, and Icatu varieties, carefully grown under the shade of native cuajiniquil trees and protected by natural barriers of local chicle vegetation, which help maintain a healthy and balanced ecosystem.

The journey has not always been easy. Years of challenging harvests and production losses tested Jaime's determination, yet each season strengthened his knowledge and commitment to producing exceptional coffee. Today, he combines traditional farming practices with continuous learning, always striving to improve quality and sustainability.

Coffee production at Jaime's farms is truly a family endeavour. His mother and sister play an essential role during harvest and post-harvest processing, while his sister and brother-in-law regularly help oversee farm operations. Together, they share the responsibility of caring for the land and ensuring every lot receives the attention it deserves.

Committed to both quality and environmental stewardship, Jaime's farms hold Fair Trade Organic (FTO) and Rainforest Alliance certifications, reflecting a dedication to responsible farming practices and long-term sustainability.

In 2018, Jaime produced his first microlot, achieving a score of 85 points. Since then, each harvest has represented another step forward in quality and refinement. Today, his coffees are enjoyed by roasters around the world, carrying with them not only exceptional cup profiles, but also the story of a family whose perseverance, passion, and connection to the land are present in every bean.
